Act 3 Post ~

HELMER:

[sinks down on a chair at the door and buries his face in his hands]. Nora! Nora! [Looks round, and rises.] Empty. She is gone. [A hope flashes across his mind.] The most wonderful thing of all—?

[The sound of a door shutting is heard from below.]

Helmer: NORA! NORA! (Helmer rushes down the stair to look try to get Nora on time)

(Helmer reaches Nora and grabs her by the arm)

Nora: (turns around)

Helmer: Nora darling, I'm sorry for all thats happened..I dont want to lose you..I dont want this family to be broken apart..

Nora: Helmer, you seem to not understand..or have listened to any of the things I've told you..

Helmer: Yes dear, I've listened to what's been said..and I want to make things right. Do you realize all that you're leaving behind? Especially our children?

Nora: Yes Helmer..I know..But I need to do what's right..

Helmer: Doing whats right,. would mean you'd stay here..with your family

Nora: I cant stand the way things are here Helmer..You must change..

Helmer: As well as you Ms.Perfect?

Nora: This is what I'm talking about Helmer..

Helmer: (covers his mouth) I apologize Nora..

Nora: (speaking quietly and softly) If I stay will you change..? At least for the sake of our children?

Helmer: (looking Nora in the eyes) I'll do whatever it is..(speaking softly) shall we make a promise?

Nora: What's your promise?

Helmer: (Holds Nora's chin up) That I stop being in control of you, and being on top of you..and you just be honest with me and hide nothing from me? And tell me the truth and nothing but the truth? (Nora looks down, Helmer lifts her chin again) Even if its just about money?

Nora: I'll have to think about this Helmer.. I need to go..(pulls away and leaves)

Helmer: (puts his head down, while Nora walks away)

Nora: (stops walking)..Oh who am I kidding..(running to Helmer to give him a hug) I'll stay..

(The couple walks into the house holding hands, walking straight to office to organize all the problems they have, and making plans for the future."

3/25 - Sunday's post :*

                After reading Acts 1 & 2 of a Doll’s house, I can say that there are some crazy characters in the story. Very crazy characters. Nora being one of them. Nora in general is just a sneaky, and wild woman. She’s a big money lover and does whatever she can get to get some cash. Even if that means ruining trust with her loved ones, or ruining friendships/relationships she has with others. The relationship Nora has with her husband, Helmer is just indescribable. Theres absolutely no words to describe the relationship they have. Helmer in general is a hard worker, that does what he has to do to support his wife and his children. Nora on the other hand, is more of a trophy wife. She gets all the rewarding for Helmer’s work, and doesn’t really care about anyone besides her children. The two compared to each other are totally different and I guess that’s what makes the relationship…..not ok.

               Helmer, honestly must go through a lot with Nora. In both acts, he has done nothing but been on top of her, and demanding her to do better, because Nora is just somewhat hardheaded and doesn’t think outside the box. In some way. I feel bad for Nora but sometimes, people just need to be put in their place. It seems that Nora is used to the treatment Helmer gives her. But no matter what Helmer says/does, Nora will be Nora. If anything she should realize all that she’s done wrong, and try to fix things. Not be sarcastic, lie, and beat around the bush for lots of her mistakes. Nora as a character knows what she’s done wrong. Proof of that is when she says in Act 2 “ Torvald dear; criticize me, and show me where I’m wrong, the way you always do.” Like obviously she knows she’s messing up, why doesn’t she just try to fix things? I personally don’t really like Nora as a character. Her choices in the story aren’t good choices & it seems like she doesn’t care about others. All she cares about, is her money. Other than Helmer/Nora, there are other characters that keep the acts going great. I honestly like each and every other character more than I like Nora. I’m just curious to know what happens at the end. Hopefully this hardheaded woman gets caught lying! We shall see ;)

Daisy's First Post :*

Intro :*           - Hi, for those that dont know me, I'm Daisy :). I'm new to this blogger thing and this is my first post. I'm obviously one of Ms.Santos' students, and I love being in her class! In all honesty I didnt expect to like her or my class at all, but as months passed by, I just started to actually enjoy it and enjoy being a part of all that's been done in the past 7 months of school. I love all the class discussions we do, and how we all relate to lots of things that we talk about in class. My classmates can be annoying sometimes (Brian) but they bring lots of laughter and good vibes into the class. I look foward to English everyday, simply because it's one of my favorites :) Everything we do is fun, I honestly cant just pick one or two things I like.
         
Research on Henrik Ibsen:
               The life of Henrik Ibsen is very interesting. Henrik Ibsen, till this day is known to be a famous Norwegian playwright, and theater director. He was born in the year of 1828, and lived a good life as people would say. As a child, Ibsen grew up in a small Norwegian coastal town. Growing up he was the oldest of 5 children. His parents were both very good people. His father was a very succesful merchant and made very good money. His mother, was a very talented woman. She knew how to paint, play the piano, and enjoyed anything that had to do with theater. I guess you can say, that Ibsen's mother was the one that led him to a good future as being a playwriter and theater director. She inspired him in many ways. As a child, he was always interested in art, and theater. Something him and his mother had in common. He spent alot of his time reading, painting, and performing magic tricks to alot of people. In his childhood, Ibsen was always focused on some type of art. His interest in art lead him to being a famous playwriter and theater director.
              As years passed by, Ibsen became more and more famous. People later on refered to him as the father of modern art. He's wrote many plays that have interested people, and till this day is known to be one of the most famous play writers in history. Some of his famous plays, are Peer Gynt, A Doll's House, and A Hedda Gabler. Ibsen was definitley a good play writer and his childhood led him to who he was as a person. Ibsen died in the year of 1906, at 78 years old leaving a good impression on people, and leaving a big impact on art and writing in general.
